Preparing for the Trip

It’s your responsibility to dress appropriately for the weather conditions the day of your trip. Make sure to bring plenty of food and drinks for the day. Bring a camera to record all your memories.

Sea Sickness

Most people will experience sea sickness while fishing on the ocean. Sea sickness can be partially prevented by taking Dramamine the night before your trip and one hour before you set sail. Sea Sickness Bands can also be purchased from most pharmacies, and they also aid in preventing nausea. Some people are more prone to sea sickness than others and sometimes it can’t be prevented. Refunds will not be issued to guests that return to shore because of sea sickness.

Otherwise, your deposit will not be refunded.  However, deposits forfeited are eligible to go toward another trip if booked within the following two months. If Prospector’s Fishing Adventures must cancel, you will receive a full refund. It the trip is cancelled due to unsafe weather conditions, and you can’t reschedule within one calendar year of booking date, you will receive a full refund.

Guests are required to purchase their own fishing licenses. These can be obtained by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. It must be purchased through the mobile app and be on the phone in order to tag salmon or halibut.  You may also choose a paper copy or a 1-day license that includes all tags.  Your captain will check for proper licensing before leaving the dock. Boarding the Vessel

  • The first step of your Prospector’s Fishing Adventure will be boarding the vessel. The first thing you must do is to stow your gear or anything you brought with you. You should never leave your belongings rolling around on the deck. The waters can become choppy and rough, and they may end up getting damaged or lost.
  • Please do not bring hard coolers on board!
  • Once you have boarded, introduce yourself to the crew so they know you for later on.

Quick Orientation

Just like a plane trip, you will receive an announcement from the captain. You must pay attention and listen to every word said, as the captain will provide important information for everyone’s safety and enjoyment.

In this part, you will learn about the day’s itinerary, setting up the fishing gear, locating safety equipment, safety tips and precautions, and more interesting information.
